Pepsi is giving away millions in grants each month to fund great ideas.

The Cincinnati Soap Box Derby is one of 188 groups competing for $250K in funding. The top 10 vote-getters will each get $25,000 for their organizations.

CSBD is the ONLY Cincinnati-area organization in this competition.

Click on the link above and vote EVERY DAY.

You're allowed 10 votes per day, so you can vote for 9 other projects but everyone in $25K category is our competition so only vote for us and other in the other grant categories. Voting ends on February 28th.

About Cincinnati Soap Box Derby, Inc

The Cincinnati Soap Box Derby is a non-profit youth development program built around a classic gravity-powered, car racing event. The organization works with area youths, teaching the value of starting and completing a project, competition & making friends that cross racial, gender and class lines.


  • To get organization firmly established financially.
  • Provide an opportunity for kids and parents to bond.
  • Help inner city kids get involved in a new activity


1. We work with other area youth organizations (Boys & Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, JDRF & others) to provide cars that kids can race. We also work with the Cinti Police and Mayor to target kids and city neighborhoods to get involved and work together, building a team to boost community pride. A $25K grant will allow us to get more kids involved. 2. Unlike many youth sports & activities, where parents drop their kids off for practice and then sit on the sidelines or stands as they play, the Derby is a family sport where parents, mentors and siblings are part of the team. We want to continue this work. 3.This is our 5th year back in Cincinnati and while we’ve received many accolades for the work we’ve done so far, we are still struggling financially. Winning a $25,000 grant will allow us to do more for the kids we serve.

How will the 25K be Used?

*Our biggest expenses are Insurance and police which are an annual and per event cost.
$ 1750 Traffic cones & safety barriers
$ 2575 Portion of program expenses to produce events
$ 2400 Storage (annual cost)
$ 725 PA system to announce results
$ 1000 Trailers to tow equipment and cars
$ 1450 Timer to record race results
$ 1800 Trophies and awards for particiapnts (annual)
$ 900 Portable starting ramps
$ 2500 Scales to weigh cars and make sure competition is fair.
$ 2400 Construction of 4 Super Kids cars to allow disadvantaged kids to race
$ 7500 Purcahse of 10 cars, giving 90 kids a chance to race.
